You've probably heard of Gift Aid, but do you know how it works and why it's so important to charities like MHA?

What's Gift Aid?

Easy - when you say yes to Gift Aid on your donation, charities get to claim an extra 25% back from the government! For example, your £50 donation would become £62.50, just like magic. 

Simply put, Gift Aid is the easiest way for you to help make your money make even more of an impact. It might not seem like much, but small donations add up quickly - on average, £1.4 billion is claimed back each year from Gift Aid donations in the UK. 

Things are tough for everyone right now, so we're really grateful for the boost that Gift Aid gives us on donations. 

What's the catch?

No catch at all! You don't pay a penny extra, and all you have to do is fill in a short form for us - you can download one at the bottom of this article 👇  

The money is reclaimed from tax already paid so you just need to be a UK Taxpayer that's paid at least the Gift Aid value or more in Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in this tax year. 

What information do I need to give you?

We need your name, address and for you to sign the form and we'll do all the hard work. We promise we'll only use your information to claim back your Gift Aid from the government, nothing else. 

If you're filling in a printed form, we'd really appreciate it if you'd be as neat as you can. 

Is there anything you can't claim Gift Aid on?

We can't claim on things like raffles, or money earned from charging entry to an event.

What if I have a change in personal information or my tax status?

It's up to you to inform us about any changes like your address or if you've stopped paying tax for any reason. Just drop us an email on admin@mhaberdeen.org.uk and we'll get things updated.
