We know results day is scary for young people (and also for parents), so we're here to give you a few small bits of advice.

To anyone waiting on results:

1. First and foremost, no matter what results you get they come after A LOT of time and hard work, so you should feel proud for what you've accomplished.

2. It's ok to take some time before you want to talk to anyone about your results.

3. When you're ready, it's a good idea to show someone else your results just in case you've overlooked or misunderstood something.

4. Don't hesitate to reach out to the Exam Results Helpline or to Childline. There's no question or no concern that’s too small or unimportant. It’s your life, so it IS important.

5. And most importantly, exams aren't the be all and end all. Whatever it says on your certificate, and whatever path you end up on doesn't change who you are as a person.

To parents and guardians:

1. Be patient and supportive until they're ready to talk about their results.

2. Don't add your stress to theirs. Maintain a confident front, try to be a role model, and focus on the hard work they put in.

3. Have a discussion about boundaries - do they want to share the news to family or have you do it for them?
